Rose Simple Syrup

Spread the love

This floral scented rose simple syrup is perfectly sweet with just a hint of delicate flowery flavor. It is perfect for adding to mocktails, hot drinks, desserts and much more!

I fell in love with rose simple syrup when I enjoyed the best Italian soda in Portland at Kyra’s Bakeshop. It was just slightly scented with rose and had the cool touch of cream with just the perfect amount of bubbles from the soda water.

After that, I started seeking out rose drinks, desserts and basically anything I could find. I realized that with a base like this, you can add it’s flavor to so many things. Here are some of my favorite things to add it to…

  • Steamers
  • Hot chocolate
  • Mocktails
  • Lemonade
  • Cakes and cupcakes
  • Macaroons
  • Icecream
  • Tarts
  • Jams and jellies

I also love adding a splash to our lavender lemonade or blackberry lemonade to take it to another level.

Using it in our non-alcoholic gin and tonic or non-alcoholic mimosa mocktail gives it a feminine touch that really makes a great mothers day or special girls night drink.

How to make it

  • Add 1/2 cup of water and 1 cup of sugar to a pan and whisk well
  • Add 1 T of dried, edible rose buds and 1/2 C rose water

Pro Tip: Make sure the rose water is edible and not made with glycerin. I highly recommend organic Bulgarian rose water.

What’s the best way to use it?

As I mentioned, I love using this rose simple syrup in so many different ways. From making a soft and subtle rose steamer to a classic rose Italian soda, this syrup works amazing in so many drinks.

It is also a fantastic ingredient for making rose cakes and cupcakes more moist. Simply brush this simple syrup on baked cake layers or cupcakes before icing. You will love the added flavor and texture!

How do you store it?

Simple syrup can be stored at room temperature or in the refrigerator, whichever you prefer. You can use a glass or plastic container just be sure the simple syrup is cooled before pouring in if you are going to use plastic.

You can keep simple syrup for 1-2 weeks at room temperature or about 1 month in the refrigerator. Once it starts to get cloudy, discolored or moldy, it is no longer good.
