Instant Pot Country Style Ribs

These Instant Pot pork ribs are an easy meal that won’t heat up the house. We’ve included a crockpot variation as well in case you don’t have an Instant Pot. They really are the perfect hearty dinner that everyone will enjoy.

And if you need more rib action, our rib dry rub is also great! It can even be used on chicken to dress it up just a bit before grilling.

Are these ribs Whole30 approved?

Yes! I’ve always loved ribs so this recipe seemed like the perfect recipe to create for you all during my own Whole30 reset years ago. Whether you maintain a certain eating style or not, you are going to love them. As much as you loved our Whole30 gluten-free crab cakes...promise!

Ingredients are minimal allowing the meat to truly shine. For this reason, I do recommend a really good quality pork. I personally like Beelers brand but any that is naturally raised gives the best flavor.

If you just follow a Keto diet and aren’t worried about Whole30 necessarily, you should definitely give this keto lemon meringue pie a try!

How to make Instant Pot Country Style Ribs

Step one: Combine all ingredients EXCEPT meat and BBQ sauce
Step two: Evenly shake the rub onto ribs
Step three: Massage spice mixture into all areas of the meat

Step four: Rim your Instant Pot bowl with the slab of ribs stand up on their side so they circle around (Make sure to place the meaty side against edge bowl; It will resemble a crown of ribs)
Pro Tip: If you have two slabs of ribs, place on curled inside the other.
Step five: Add one cup of water to the bottom of the pan and cook on high pressure cook for 25 minutes (for crockpot, cook on low 6-7 hrs)
Step six: Manually release pressure and transfer ribs to a baking sheet and baste with Whole30 approved BBQ sauce (optional) then broil 2-3 minutes to give that crispy outer layer

Can these be made into slow cooker ribs?

While I originally made these ribs in our crockpot, I have recently adapted them to meet our Instant Pot needs. If you’d like to still cook them in the Instant Pot, go ahead and just switch the cook time to 6-7 hours on low.

The rest of the instructions will be the same. Which cooking method you choose really just depends on if you need this dinner in a snap or you have time to cook low and slow all day.

Just like our creamy Italian chicken recipe, it works great in both the pressure cooker or the crockpot.

What do you serve with these Instant Pot pork ribs?

I have to say that these Instant Pot pork ribs go so well with our martini mashed potato bar or creamy gluten-free funeral potatoes. Is it just me or are you guys also big potato fans?

They also go great with this copycat KFC coleslaw recipe from The Cozy Cook. My friend Kendell also has a great crack slaw that would be delicious as a bold side!

My friend Erin has a delicious summer corn salad and the best potato salad recipe as well over on her blog, Meaningful Eats. Chrystal of Gluten-Free Palate also has a yummy recipe for Instant Pot beef short ribs that would be great too if you are looking for something a little different than our ribs.

Can you use beef ribs instead of pork?

Absolutely! They taste great and are cooked just the same way.

How do you store Instant Pot pork ribs?

Leftovers (if there are any) can be stored in the refrigerator for 2-3 days. You can microwave to reheat. Oven baking isn’t recommended as it will dry them out.
