Gluten-Free Cinnamon Granola

This recipe is a very simple recipe and has only four ingredients. It’s quick to mix together and bake and turns out nice and crisp. It’s perfect topped on yogurt, sprinkled over spiced apples, or as a little snack.

How to Make Cinnamon Granola:

Melted buttery spread in a small bowl on the right with a larger bowl in the middle with gluten-free oats, brown sugar, and cinnamon.

Place 1/2 cup of buttery spread in a small saucepan and heat over medium-low heat until it’s melted.

The original recipe called for butter but I use Smart Balance buttery spread to make it dairy-free. If you aren’t needing it to be dairy-free you can use regular butter.

While that’s heating up, mix the gluten-free rolled oats, brown sugar, and cinnamon together in a large bowl.

All the ingredients for cinnamon granola mixed together in a large glass bowl.

Pour the melted buttery spread over the oat mixture and stir until completely combined.

The granola mix all spread out in a baking pan ready to be baked.

Next, spread the mixture out into a half-sheet baking pan with a rimmed edge. And then use the back of a large spoon to spread out the granola and smooth it out evenly.

Bake the granola for 18 minutes in a 350° oven. After it’s baked, remove from oven and let cool 30 minutes before removing from the pan. Break it apart into the size of pieces that you want.

Ingredients for Gluten-Free Cinnamon Granola:

Ingredients for a very simple gluten-free granola.

This recipe calls for just 4 ingredients:

Gluten-Free Rolled Oats*
Brown Sugar
Dairy-Free Buttery Spread – Smart Balance or Earth Balance
Cinnamon

*Certified Gluten-Free Oats

Make sure to use certified gluten-free oats. Oats do not contain gluten but they are normally harvested and processed alongside wheat, so to make sure they are gluten-free you need oats from a company that keeps them separate and safe. My favorite brands of gluten-free oats are One Degree and Bob’s Red Mill.

Optional Additions to Add To Granola:

Nuts and Seeds: Add 1/2 to 1 cup of nuts before baking. Almonds, walnuts, pecans, cashews, or pistachios. Pepitas, sunflower seeds, or flaxseeds.

Dried Fruit: Add up to 1 cup of dried fruit to the granola after baking.

Chocolate Chips: Add up to 1 cup after baking. Enjoy Life or Nestle Allergen Free Chocolate Chips are gluten-free and dairy-free.

How to Store Cinnamon Granola

You can store completely cooled granola in a sealed container at room temperature for several weeks. To freeze granola place it in an airtight freezer bag and freeze for up to 3 months.
