How to make gluten-free croutons.

You can easily make your own gluten-free croutons in the oven or an air fryer. These homemade croutons are perfect for salads, soups, and snacks!

They’re simple to make and you can either use fresh bread straight from the bag or let the bread set out for a day to make with day-old bread.

How long do croutons last?

Keep your croutons in an air-tight container for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 1 month. To thaw place croutons on the countertop. If they lose a little crispiness after thawing place them on a baking sheet and reheat at 400° for a couple of minutes or place in air fryer for 1 minute.

How do you keep croutons crispy?

If you use fresh bread (straight from the bread bag) to make your croutons they will be crispy as soon as they are done cooking, but after storing they will lose some of their crispiness so you will need to re-toast them in the oven for a couple of minutes or the air fryer for 1 minute.

If you use day-old bread (bread that has been left out to dry for a day) the croutons will stay crispy even after storing. But if they do lose any crispiness re-toast as above.

How to Make Gluten-Free Croutons:

Cutting the bread to make croutons.

Take your fresh or day-old bread and slice and dice the pieces into uniform size cubes. Place the bread cubes into a medium-sized mixing bowl.

Mix seasoning ingredients together in a small bowl and then pour over bread cubes. Stir the bread cubes around until they are all coated with the seasoning mix.

Bake the croutons for 9-10 minutes in the oven, check the last couple of minutes to gauge how brown you want them. If you’re using day-old bread they may cook faster. Remove from oven and let cool on a wire rack.

To make in an air fryer: Place seasoned bread cubes out in an air fryer basket and spread them out. Cook for 3-4 minutes and then remove to a wire rack to cool.
